This caller ID works well, I just wish it was back lit, it is a little hard to read unless you are right in front of it.
If I disconnected its power and then immediately reconnected it, everything was fine. LOTS of other people have reported various quality control problems with this unit. Mine has never quite worked right. It's the only jumbo caller-id unit that I know that handles Call Waiting Caller-ID, so I have continued to put up with it. If you don't need CALL WAITING caller-id, then the Telnote unit is VASTLY better in every way. Every few weeks, all the phones in the house would stop working, as if there was a phone off the hook. I eventually discovered that the problem was the Classco Jumbo Display Caller-ID.
But there remains room for improvement with the display and the only reason I did not give it a 5-rating. But the batteries would run low and the display would dim. You don't need the batteries to run this unit). Then we got the "Classco Jumbo Display Caller ID" unit and this has been great.
We were having trouble reading the small display on the phone when a call came in (there continues to be too many telemarketers, even after we listed our number on the Federal "Do not call list"). (Take a look as some of the large the clock displays out there now). The display is much easier to read and you don't need to get up out of your chair to see it. So we got a second device that worked on battery.
This unit runs off a power supply plugged into the wall (it has a battery option, used as a backup option in case the power goes out. All in all, we are pleased with the unit and are glad we purchased it. It was slightly larger and we placed it in the family room. The display was only slightly better.
Visible from across the room, and unlike the Emerson, lights up in the dark when the phone rings. Bought this product to replace a Jumbo Caller ID made by Emerson. Not wireless like the Emerson, but set up easy and works well.
Ability to display call waiting ID is a huge plus. Easy to connect, display is large and clear.
